AI at the Edge: Challenges and Opportunities

We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming workshop on AI at the Edge, where we will explore the latest developments and challenges in deploying artificial intelligence (AI) at the edge. The workshop will focus on several research thrusts related to foundation models for edge devices, large language models (LLMs) for analyzing and optimizing large systems and data flows, next generation co-design and development tools, and next generation adaptive systems.

The workshop will address the following gaps and problems:

• Energy walls, compute/throughput bottlenecks, and communication limits in deploying, training and fine-tuning AI at the edge
• Limitations of AI interacting with the physical world and training and learning at the edge
• Challenges in deploying distributed heterogeneous systems and lack of repeatability in terms of deployments and business cases

We will also explore the following opportunities:

• New paradigms and fabrics for reducing compute energy 
• Cross-layer design and domain specific optimization
• Intelligent "agents" at the edge and hierarchical architectures
• Smart and adaptive distributed sensing systems
• New architectures and abstractions for sensing systems
