SystemX 2025 Spring Workshop

Designing Chips for AI with AI
May 22, 2025 | Stanford Arrillaga Alumni Center | McCaw Hall

This workshop discusses the dual facets of semiconductor chip design for AI applications as well as leveraging AI methodologies in the chip design process itself. Speakers will delve into the architectural advancements and technical nuances of designing semiconductor chips optimized for AI workloads, and we will also address the innovative use of AI techniques in the semiconductor design process by demonstrating how AI can enhance design efficiency, accuracy, and speed.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the symbiotic relationship between AI and semiconductor design, along with actionable insights for future developments in the field.

The preliminary list of speakers includes Stanford professors: Subhasish MitraPriyanka RainaThierry Tambe, and Caroline Trippel, and technical industry luminaries: Chuck Alpert (Fellow at Cadence), Fergus Casey (Executive Director at Synopsys), and Amit Gupta (Corporate Vice President at AMD).

SystemX's New Faculty Co-Director: Eric Pop

Eric Pop

Prof. Eric Pop joins Prof. Tom Lee as Faculty Co-Director of SystemX. 

Eric is the Pease-Ye Professor of Electrical Engineering (EE) and, by courtesy, of Applied Physics and Materials Science & Engineering at Stanford and SLAC.

Eric is particularly excited about the role of new materials in future electronics – as well as using AI to discover and manufacture them. He recently spoke about this on the Future of Everything podcast.

He has been the Heterogeneous Integration Focus Area Lead for 8 years, and we are excited for him to continue leading us in SystemX in this new role!


SystemX's New Managing Director ofIndustry Partnerships: Rachel Zhang

Rachel Zhang

Rachel Zhang joins SystemX as the Managing Director of Industry Partnerships. 

As an innovative business leader, Rachel has launched and expanded businesses across the U.S., Asia, and global markets for tech companies including Alibaba, Ant Group, and Microchip.

During her tenure as Senior Advisor at Ant Group, she also incubated a philanthropic initiative to cultivate 10,000 technology leaders over a decade, aiming to bridge the digital divide and drive economic growth in emerging markets.

Rachel is passionate about harnessing technology for good, driving innovation, and bridging industry collaboration to create a broader meaningful impact.

Rachel is a Stanford GSB alumna.
