Abstract / Description: 

The talk will provide an overview of Wireless Electric Vehicle Charging (WEVC) technology and the market. It will include a discussion of the system and its high-level components, safety and emissions considerations and standards work. Current state of the art systems both in late stage and early stage development will be discussed, including dynamic wireless charging. It will also include a brief overview on Formula E, the electric racing series.

Bio: 

Steve is a seasoned executive, entrepreneur and general manager with a 25+ year track record of successful leadership in both large organizations and startups. He has led multiple global technology businesses in emerging markets, including M2M and Internet of Things (IoT), software and wireless, resulting in five exits.  Steve is on the boards of Formula E Racing (London), TearClear (Irvine, CA), Qualcomm New Zealand (Auckland, NZ), and Eta Semiconductor (San Diego, CA) and was on the boards of Macheen (Austin), Vikaran Solutions (Chicago) and MPCS (Pune, India), all of which were recently sold.
    
Steve currently is GM, Wireless Charging for Qualcomm Incorporated, where he runs the emerging global IP licensing businesses for WiPower (wireless charging of phones, wearables and other consumer devices), Halo (wireless electric vehicle charging) as well as an innovative variable capacitor technology.  Most recently he was vice president and entrepreneur in residence at Qualcomm, where he looked after a variety of internal Qualcomm startups. 

Steve has a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan.
