Quantum computing holds theoretical promise for applications in finance across risk, optimization, and machine learning. This talk will review these prospects and cover the state of the art in resource estimation for these use cases, i.e. what practical specifications are needed for quantum advantage. The talk aims for attendees to get a clearer picture on what open research questions remain in achieving production applications in finance.

Bio:

Dr. Zeng is a quantum computer scientist who leads the quantum computing research group at Goldman Sachs. He has worked on quantum computing in academia, industry, and non-profits, founding the Unitary Fund and serving as a Visiting Scholar at Stanford. Previously, at Rigetti Computing, he ran product and software teams to launch their first quantum computers. He received his PhD in quantum algorithms from Oxford and his BSc in Physics from Yale University.
