Professor Eric Pop has been appointed the inaugural Pease-Ye Professor. The Pease-Ye Professorship was established with an endowed gift from Dr. Jun Ye and Caren Wang. The professorship honors Dr. Ye’s relationship with his Stanford PhD advisor, R. Fabian Pease, the William E. Ayer Professor in Electrical Engineering, Emeritus, who served on the electrical engineering faculty from 1978 to 2009 and is renowned for his contributions to electron beam lithography and to instrumentation development for the semiconductor industry.
Eric earned his PhD in electrical engineering from Stanford in 2005, and joined the department as faculty in 2013. He is a member of Stanford’s SystemX Alliance, where he leads the Heterogenous Integration focus area, as well as a member of Bio-X and an affiliate of the Precourt Institute. Eric’s research lies at the intersection of nanoelectronics and nanoscale energy conversion, with recent work developing energy-efficient 2D transistors and ultralow power phase-change memory, as well as exploring the fundamental limits of current and heat flow in nanomaterials, devices, and heterojunctions.
Eric has earned numerous accolades over his career, including most recently Fellow of the IEEE, American Physical Society Fellow, and a recipient of the Intel Outstanding Researcher Award.
